Two Months!!!

So in exactly two months from today I will be checking in to my new apartment (Hopefully Patterson) in Disney World!! I absolutely cannot wait for my new adventure to begin! Earlier this week I received the Disney Look email, which further explained exactly what to wear to training, Traditions, etc. Its basically a relaxed version of business casual. So, today I’m going to stalk up on some of those kinds of clothes πŸ™‚ (Unfortunately Nike shorts and sorority T shirts don’t fall into the Disney Look πŸ˜‰ ) So yay for a Β new wardrobe! I’ve gotten almost everything I need for my apartment, and its all coming together! I’ve decided to not take a Disney course (mainly bc the one I wanted was already full…) but that just means more time to observe the PT clinic and explore the parks πŸ™‚ (and sleep…) Any way, this post is super random, but I just had to update the countdown!!! I cannot believe how quickly this summer is flying by!Β

Roommates and a little bit of packing :)

Okay so since its summer, I’ve actually had time to slow down and think about what all I wish I had known (without having to bother my campus reps) about the DCP. So first is roommates. If you’re thinking “Oh, I’ll just wait until my check-in date and figure out my roommates by whoever I’m standing by…” Bad idea.By the time check-in roles around, everyone and their mother will have already figured out what apartment they want (Vista Way, Chatham, Patterson) , how many bed rooms (1-4) , and who they want their roommates to be. But don’t freak out. As soon as you get accepted (not before bc Β it will be torture otherwise) join all of the Facebook groups about the DCP (Facebook Disney College Program with whatever term you’re doing). Then find one for your arrival date. After that then someone will have posted a document with a roommate survey; fill it out and then browse other people’s surveys to find similar interests, rooming desires, etc. It’s going to be creepy no matter what to find someone and message them about being roommates/apartment mates. So just get over that awkwardness. Everyone is awkward in that situation, so make a joke out of it πŸ™‚ Once you’ve found your roommates and started to fill your apartment, start a group message on FB. It makes it so easy to figure out who is bringing what and what time everyone wants to get there. I personally am shooting for a 3 bedroom in Patterson and I absolutely love all 6 of my roommates so far πŸ™‚ 82 days until Check-in!
Now packing. I’m extremely OCD about packing. I will pack, unpack, and repack about 400 times before I actually move in. But I have discovered a few things along the way. (I’ll do an actual packing list later when I have it all figured out.) If you have an extended break before your DCP, take advantage of it. Google lists from previous CPs and write it down. Whenever you figure out what you need, make a list and pick up a few things whenever you go to Wal Mart/Taget/Wherever. That way you can slowly, but surely make sure you get everything. Get storage for under your bed. Use any down time to start to pack little things. For example, I know I won’t need any of my winter clothes between now and when I move it (Its pushing 90 degrees here…), so I’ve already packed that. If you have a separate comforter, sheets, etc. from college, wash it as soon as you get home and pack it away. That’s one less thing you’ll have to worry about πŸ™‚ And as you buy things, just put them in your storage bins (I have some for under my bed and a few others). Tape a list of what’s in that bin so far to the top, so you can keep it organized and know exactly what you have easily.Β

Hopefully this helps you future CPs πŸ™‚ If you’re Fall or Fall advantage 2012, add me on FB πŸ™‚Β
